Eurial Certified

A car dealer with a stock of certified used cars, each listed on its own page, plus a weekly offer.

Context

Automotive

Anyone buying a second-hand car is afraid of hidden faults, mechanical or electronic, and of a dealer who takes on nothing once the sale is done. That fear turned into repeated questions on the phone and into journeys made for nothing, for cars that did not match; the dealer answered the same things every time, car by car. The stock had to answer for itself: every car with its full sheet, searchable by the criteria people actually search on.

Architecture

The cap on paid reports is a global daily one, and it is spent only when a payment is actually about to happen.

Every history report costs real money. A per-IP cap would not have protected the invoice, because an IP changes trivially; and one spent on every request would have taken the button away from the visitors who cost nothing.

The showroom badge is drawn into the photograph, hooked onto the moment the processed pictures come back.

The buyer sees from the listing where the car physically sits, and the dealer's team does not gain one more manual step for every car entering stock.

The chatbot is handed the stock list generated from the API, rather than left to read it off the site.

A robot reading the pages returns text about cars; one fed from the API returns the car, with its link. The difference shows in what the visitor can do with the answer.

What I built

A refactor on top of the platform already running

The platform existed; the work was to rebuild it from the inside and build on top of it - the interface, the stock pages, the showroom locations and the SEO structure, with the same cars behind them.

A history check, requested from the car's own page

A button on the car's page requests the vehicle history report from Cebia and shows it in that same page, with spending caps behind it and an honest message while the report is being prepared.

The showroom badge, drawn onto the first photograph on its own

Once a car's photographs have been processed, a background job draws onto the first image the badge naming the showroom the car sits in - Pantelimon, Militari, Otopeni, Brasov, Cluj, Ploiesti or Pitesti - with no manual step.

Detailed search of the stock

The stock is filtered by location, vehicle type, make and model, price, deductible VAT, year of manufacture, fuel, drivetrain, transmission, body and emissions, from a panel that opens over the listing.

A chatbot fed the real stock

The chatbot on the site is given the full list of cars, generated from the site's own API, so it recommends cars with a direct link to each one's page, not just text about them.

The blog and the editable copy, in Strapi

The blog articles and the editable copy of the pages are managed from Strapi, with no work in the code.

What's gone
  • The repeated questions on the phone, the same ones for every car.
  • The journeys made for nothing, for cars that did not match.
  • The car's history left to the dealer's word, with no report the buyer could ask for themselves.

  • The history report is requested from the car's own page, with a spending cap behind it.
