Generative engine optimization:what ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude say about your business

Some customers no longer search Google. They ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity who to choose. Generative engine optimization, or SEO for AI, means finding out what the assistants answer to your customers' questions, who they recommend and which sources they cite, then fixing whatever keeps you out of the answer. I measure with the method written below, fix the site in code and measure again every month.

What I measure

4 assistants and Google
01

Your customers' questions

Between 40 and 60 questions, chosen together: how customers look for what you sell, what they compare, what it costs. In every language you sell in.

02

Four assistants and Google

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, plus Google's AI answers: AI Overviews and AI Mode.

03

Every question, 3 times

The same assistant answers differently from one run to the next, so a single run is noise. The result is how many runs you appear in, not a rank.

04

What they say about you, and whether it is right

Who they recommend and in what order, which sources they cite, what they say about your prices, hours and services. A wrong fact needs fixing just as much as an absence.

What I fix

myself, in code
01

The site

The assistants' crawlers can get in, including through Cloudflare or another firewall. The content is visible without JavaScript, the structured data is correct, and prices and facts are the same on every page.

02

Your presence beyond the site

Your Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect and the directories the assistants cite in your field, with the same details everywhere.

03

The content

Pages that answer, concretely, the questions you are missing from today: what you do, what it costs, how long it takes, who it is for.

I do not hand you a list to pass on to someone else: what I find on the site, I fix. I found exactly this kind of fault on rzs-it.ro: robots.txt let the AI crawlers in, and a Cloudflare setting shut them out again.

What you get every month

a short report

A short report: where you appeared and where you did not, what changed since last month, which sources matter in your field, and two or three actions for the month ahead. Plus 2 hours of fixes on the site, included. Anything beyond that is billed at 45 € an hour.

What I do not promise

said at the start

No one can guarantee that an AI assistant will recommend you: the answers change from one day to the next, and Google itself says no one can guarantee a ranking. What I do for certain: open the door to the crawlers, make the site easy to read, get the facts right and identical everywhere, and show you every month, in numbers, whether the direction is right. I do not buy mentions and I do not write hidden text for assistants: both are spam and can get a site dropped from Google.

What it costs

excl. VAT

The audit

from 600 €

one-off

The baseline measurement, ready within 5 business days, a check of the site and of your online presence, and the list of fixes in order of impact. You can make the fixes with me, yourself or with anyone you like.

Monitoring and fixes

from 225 € a month

3 months minimum

The monthly re-measurement, with the same questions and the same method, the report, and 2 hours of fixes on the site every month.

How we work

4 steps
01

We choose the questions

Twenty minutes on what you sell and how customers look for you. The questions to measure come out of that conversation.

02

The baseline

Within 5 business days you have the table: where you appear, where you do not, and who the assistants recommend instead of you.

03

The fixes

You get the list in order of impact. What is on the site, I do; the profiles we do together, because they need your access.

04

I measure again, monthly

Same questions and same method, so the difference shows in numbers.

Frequent questions

7 questions

Is this the same as SEO?

Largely, yes. Google says explicitly that optimising for AI search is still SEO. The difference is what you measure: not only your position in Google, but also what the assistants say and which sources they cite.

How soon will I see something?

The first changes usually take at least 30 days to show. That is why we measure monthly, not weekly, and why the plan runs for 3 months minimum.

Where does the data come from?

From the assistants' real answers, collected through their APIs, plus Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools for your site.

Why is the audit not free?

Because it is a full measurement: between 40 and 60 questions, across 5 sources, 3 times each, which means 600 to 900 answers read and put in a table. The result is yours to keep, even if we stop there.

Is my site blocking AI assistants without me knowing?

It can be. A correct robots.txt is not enough if the firewall or CDN, Cloudflare for example, has a setting switched on that blocks AI crawlers. That was the case on rzs-it.ro itself until October 2026. It is the first thing I check.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

For Google, no: Google says it does not use it. Other assistants and agents may read it and it costs little, so I add it, but I do not sell it as a lever. What your pages say, and what others write about you, matter more.

Does it work for a local business?

Yes. For local businesses, the Google profile, genuine reviews and the directories in your field often count for more than the site. The audit checks all of them.

What ChatGPT answers when someone looks for you

Send me your site and two or three questions your customers ask you. I will tell you what we measure and when you get the first numbers.
